The videos, links and downloadable pdfs on this page provide helpful information on how to safely enjoy outdoor activities in Hawaii, as well as general safety guidelines we all should follow. We hope you take the time to review the information before you explore the beauty Hawaii has to offer.

Hawaii is a beautiful place, with natural landscapes and vistas that allow you to connect with nature in so many positive ways.  There are however, inherent dangers that you should be wary of so you can enjoy the islands safely.   Even the most popular, heavily visited hikes and ocean spots can still be dangerous if you are not prepared or take unnecessary risks.

If you are considering any hike, water activity, camp grounds, etc. first contact the Outdoor Recreation Center (phone: 808-449-5215 for JBPHH, 808-335-4195 for PMRF).  Their knowledgeable staff can provide advice and information to experienced travelers and newcomers alike.  They offer fun and unique excursions to different locations around the island and can even construct a custom tour for your group!  If you are a single servicemember, check out one of MWR's Liberty Centers, as they also provide guided tours (including hikes, water activities, bicycle tours) all over the island for little to no cost.
